Don't park in front of tree debris piles

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - City officials are asking people to not park in front of neighborhood debris piles because pick-up is underway.

Director of Public Works Mark Cotter says crews are concentrating efforts in central Sioux Falls for beginning of this first pass.  He says if cars are parked in front of those piles they can't get in so the limbs will stay there longer and that will slow the whole cleanup project.

Cotter says the pickup works better and faster in the trees are cut to eight feet or less and stack them paralllel to the street so skid loaders can pick them up.  He says equipment and workers from the county and state, private contractors and minimum security, non-violent inmates are collecting the debris.

He says when you go home tonight and find that your debris pile has been picked up, don't worry, the city will make multiple passes.  Cotter hopes to eventually announce when and where crews will be working
