SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The city has brought in 30 contract arborists to help in cutting broken tree limbs in the public right of way.
Director of Public Works Mark Cotter says the public right of way extends from the inside of the sidewalks on both sides of the street.
Cotter says in most cases the arborists are in a bucket truck cutting broken branches. He says if a branch is broken, or hanging, over a sidewalk where pedestrians will pass, they'll cut that branch. If another branch is broke and hanging over the street, it will also get cut.
Cotter says the arborists are handling their own traffic control.
