SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Public and private crews collected tree branches from an additional 74 center line miles of Sioux Falls Streets yesterday.
Director of Public Works Mark Cotter says workers found that smaller equipment, such as skid steers with timber buckets, work best.
Cotter says a grinder is turning limbs into sawdust at the East Chambers Street drop-off site. He says that shreaded tree material is an energy source that will eventually be trucked down to Poet in Chancellor to be burned as fuel in their solid waste boiler.
Cotter says the removal effort may begin soon in city parks.
