Noem 'cautiously optimistic' on farm bill

Washington, DC (KELO-AM) South Dakota Republican Congresswoman Kristi Noem reports progress on the farm bill. Noem is one of the conferees thrashing out the details in Washington.

She says that she is cautiously optimistic that a common-sense compromise is just around the corner.

The biggest hurdle still seems to be the food stamp program, which is part of the massive farm bill. Democrats and Republicans have been miles apart, but Noem says they are coming closer on the numbers. She says they are talking about $10-billion in cuts.

The current farm bill, a temporary extension, is set to expire at the end of the year.
