ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State's Nate Wolters was named Summit League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance Feb. 11-17.
Wolters tied The Summit League record with his sixth Player of the Week award this season after leading South Dakota State into sole possession of first place. Against IUPUI, Wolters scored 18 points in just 27 minutes while adding four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Two days later in a first-place showdown against Western Illinois, Wolters tallied 28 points against the nation's No. 2 scoring defense (51.7 ppg) in a victory that lifted the Jackrabbits to the top spot in the league standings. He had a game-high six assists and three steals and connected on 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) field goal attempts and four-of-seven (57.1 percent) from beyond the arc. For the week, Wolters averaged 23 points per game, shot 60 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three-point range. Wolters now has 14 career Player of the Week awards, the second-highest total on record.
