SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Angry motorists complained to Sioux Falls police about traffic yesterday afternoon during an hour-long power outage in north central Sioux Falls.
Captain Greg Vandekamp says when street lights go out drivers must treat every intersection as a four way stop.
Vandekamp says there’s confusion on four-lane streets. Minnesota Avenue, for example, has many stoplights and when they're not working some drivers think the road becomes non-stop. He says thats where serious accidents and tragedy can occur. State law demands motorists treat all intersections with non-functioning control lights as four way stops.
Vandekamp says there were no major accidents yesterday.
