SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say a 49-year-old Sioux Falls man lost control of his pickup truck after a short, high-speed chase early this morning and crashed into a garage on East 18th Street.
Officer Sam Clemens says police found Todd Tronson near 10th Street and I-229 after a call about a possible drunk driver.
Clemens says police pursued Tronson to 13th and Cleveland but stopped after speeds got too high. Tronson turned on 18th Street, hit a tree on South Tabbert, hit two vehicles on 18th and crashed into the garage. When the officer approached the pickup, Tronson was stuck inside. He tried putting it into reverse but the truck was stuck and officers had to pull him out of the window to free him.
Clemens says damages estimates are around $12,000. Tronson is charged with aggravated eluding, D-W-I, reckless driving and no proof of insurance.
