KANSAS CITY, MO (KWSN) - Augustana senior Cameron McCaffrey has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2013 Reese’s Division II College All-Star Game on Friday, March 29 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky.The game will be played during the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on the day between the quarterfinals and semifinals.
The teams are made up of two players from each of the eight regions in Division II with four at-large selections.
The coaches for the game are former University of Central Oklahoma coach Jim Seward and former Southern Connecticut State University coach Art Leary.
McCaffrey capped off a stellar collegiate career in 2012-13 by leading the Vikings with 21.3 points and 4.8 assists per game. He also led the team in field goals made (213), field goals attempted (456), 3-point field goals made (54), 3-point field goals attempted (152), free throws made (179), steals (30) and minutes played (34.5 minutes per game).
He led the Vikings in scoring in 28 of 31 games this season and scored 20 or more points in a game 18 times this season, including 30, 36 and his career-high 40 points against the University of Mary on Jan. 18.
Augustana made its 11th appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2012-13 and finished the season 22-9. The Vikings finished third in the NSIC with a 15-7 mark in the league.
