BURNSVILLE, MN (KWSN) – Augustana earned the No. 3 seed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/US Bank baseball tournament and will play No. 6 seed Wayne State at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud, Minn. on Wednesday, May 8 at 3 p.m. the league announced Sunday.
St. Cloud State earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, and were the predetermined host of the tournament. The tournament will be played on both Dick Putz Field and Faber Field in St. Cloud May 8-11.
The eight-team double-elimination tournament also includes, Minnesota State, Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State. Bemidji State earned the eighth spot in a tie-break over the University of Sioux Falls. Both teams finished with a .500 win percentage in the league, but BSU defeated top seeded St. Cloud State once this season, while USF was swept by the Huskies.
The winner of the NSIC/US Bank Baseball Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament.Augustana is making its fourth appearance in the NSIC Tournament. The Vikings finished the regular season with an overall record of 36-16, setting a school record for most wins in a season.
Augustana compiled 21-7 record in conference play, finishing with 20-plus wins in NSIC play for the fourth straight season.
