VERMILLION, SD (KWSN) – South Dakota head women’s basketball coach Amy Williams is pleased to announce Raeshel Contreras of Foothill College (Calif.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to the University of South Dakota. The point guard will be a junior when she enrolls this fall.
Contreras averaged 17 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range while playing in the Coast Conference of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). She was a two-time First-Team All-Conference honoree, earned First-Team All-State honors in 2012 and was named to the 2012 CCCAA All-State Tournament Team after leading the Owls to the finals.
The graduate from Encinal High School in San Francisco scored more than 20 points in 10 games and in double figures in 25 games during her second season at Foothill.
Contreras is the fourth member of South Dakota’s 2013 recruiting class. Already signed are Bridget Arens of Crofton, Neb., Jaylah Jackson of Olathe, Kan., and Maddy White of Warrnambool, Australia.
