SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Feeding South Dakota today launched a six million dollar capital campaign to fight hunger across the state.
Development Director Kerri DeGraff says the goal is to provide 16 million meals by 2020, an increase of five million meals
DeGraff says current storage facilities are too small. She says they continue receiving more perishable food which she says is more nutritous. But Feeding South Dakota can't handle that food for too long so they need refrigeration at a warehouse.
DeGraff says the goal of “Hand to Hand” is to raise $3 million for a new Sioux Falls facility that will house the food bank and food pantry.
Feeding South Dakota hopes to raise $2 million Rapid City and a million dollars in Pierre.
