SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN) – The University of Sioux Falls head women’s golf coach Ty Dannenbring announced that Sioux Falls native Kiersten Warkenthien signed a national letter of intent with USF Thursday and will join the Cougars’ program next fall.
“Kiersten is self-motivated, a servant and strives for excellence in all she does,” said coach Dannenbring. “She is a very good student and will be pursuing a nursing degree at USF.”
Warkenthien played in the 2013 South Dakota Girls State Class “A” Golf Tournament and came away with a runner-up individual finish as well as a runner-up team finish while competing for Sioux Falls Christian High School. Her score of 83 in the one round of golf was just one stroke behind the eventual champion. She also qualified for the State Tournament her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons and was a member of the 2011 Class “A” State Championship team.
“I know Kiersten has worked hard on her golf game the past couple of years and it paid off with a runner-up finish this spring at the Class “A” State tournament,” added Dannenbring. “There is no doubt in my mind she will be a great asset to our team and the USF community.”
