SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Managing your weight can be challenge during the holidays.
Sanford Health Dietician Jocelyn Johnson says there are steps you can take to avoid overeating.
Johnson advises don’t get to the table super hungry, decide what calories are worth eating and use a smaller plate. She says eating really is in your mind, you just have to tell yourself that your aren't going to eat until you're full. Rather, she says, eat until you're satisfied, walk away and don't come back to the table.
And Johnson says if you add some pounds don’t beat yourself up.
She says a pound or two is not that big of a deal, just start over the next day and eat healthier.
And for healthier, less fattening and traditional foods, go online and search recipes with less fat.
