Bergner named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week

VERMILLION, S.D. (KWSN) —South Dakota freshman Miles Bergner (Longmount, Colo./Longmount HS) has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Team’s Player of the Week for the period ended Oct. 6. It is the second weekly award for Bergner his season. 

Bergner made a career-long and game-winning 41-yard field to give South Dakota its first-ever MVFC victory. Bergner also had three touchbacks on four kickoffs and averaged 43 yards on six punts. His six punts netted 39.5 yards. He had two 50-yard punts and pinned one kick inside the 20. 

Bergner ranks 17th nationally in punting (43.3 ypp) heading into Saturday’s 1 p.m. home contest with Indiana State at the DakotaDome.
