SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center was topped off Wednesday. There was a big ceremony to raise the final beam in the roof of the new 115-million dollar events center.
Topping off ceremonies are an important custom in the construction industry. While the ceremony has roots in ancient tradition, today it is a signal that the highest point of the structure is now complete as the final beam is now in place. The community had an opportunity to sign the 30-foot-long steel beam to be part of history.
The 12-thousand seat center will host basketball, hockey, rodeo and other sporting events. The plan is to have it open in the Fall of next year
