SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A portion of the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls will be cleaned by members of the South Dakota Canoe and Kayak Association this afternoon.
Association President Steve Dahlmeier Says crews will start at the canoe access at 26th Street and I-229 at 5:30.
Dahlmeier says they’ll row upstream cleaning trash from the bank and caught in snags. He says the garbage consists of a lot of garbage bags, beer bottles, cans and plastic botles. But he says there's the occasional kiddie pool, bicycles and clothing
Dahlmeier says if you don’t have a canoe or kayak, their also cleaning the wetland area of 26th Street which will be walked.
