(WNFL)- Green Bay Packers' outside linebacker Clay Matthews says he'll be ready in time for training camp. In an interview with USA Today, the 27-year-old Matthews said he's been in the gym and doing intense physical therapy ever since the pins were pulled out of his previously broken thumb in January. Matthews said there are things he won't be able to do at the Packers' organized team activities which start on Tuesday. But after missing much of last season with his injury, Matthews says he's excited about getting back on the field. He's also excited about playing with Green Bay's newly-acquired defensive end Julius Peppers. The former Chicago Bears' star is taller and heavier than Matthews -- and Matthews expects opponents to double-team Peppers instead of him. He calls that a great opportunity. Matthews has 50 sacks in his five NFL seasons, all with the Pack. Peppers has 118-and-a-half sacks in his 12 pro campaigns.
