Fatal plane crash wreckage now at the lab

Undated (KELO-AM) The wreckage of this week's fatal plane crash near Highmore has now been moved to the National Transportation Safety Board lab in Greeley, Colorado, to sift for clues.

Board investigator Jennifer Rodi says it was a methodical search of the crash site around a wind tower on a wind farm, putting smaller pieces into bags and putting the larger pieces in a trailer. They are hoping to find, in all that wreckage, an undamaged engine data monitoring unit. Rodi says the unit could potentially reveal valuable engine data at the time of the crash.

One thing they want to find out is whether the plane hit the wind tower or whether one of the turbine props first hit the plane.

All four people aboard the plane died in the crash - three South Dakota ranchers, and the pilot-owner of an aerial application service based in Gettysburg, South Dakota.
