Huron S.D. (KELO AM) - The 2014 IDEAg Dakotafest Trade Show in Mitchell is the location of a several excellent opportunities for the ag community to learn more about the potential for the use of drones in agriculture.
This educational session, open to the public, is hosted by South Dakota Farm Bureau in conjunction with RoboFlight and Haug Implement. Officials from RoboFlight, as well as Matt Rohlik, Integrated Solutions Manager for Haug Implement based in Willmar, Minnesota, will present information on drones and their data applications for agriculture. Pre-registration is not required, but it is helpful to event organizers if you would RSVP to Phil Ellerbroek at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, South Dakota Farm Bureau and Haug Implement will host live demonstrations of drones twice daily, Tomorrow, Aug. 21 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. These demos will be located in the field directly across from the main Dakotafest entrance gate, in the northeast corner of the pivot on the south side of the road where 255th Street and 411th Avenue intersect.
Attendees will be shown how to utilize a fixed-wing drone to scout their fields and gather data for management decisions. A quad copter drone will also be on hand to explain how easy it is to use for scouting crops or even livestock. These demonstrations will showcase the latest technology available to help farmers and ranchers in their operations. RoboFlight will be in the SDFB Hoop Building (Lot #445) throughout all three days of Dakotafest to answer any questions.
