Dykstra named Senior CLASS Award Finalist

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Senior CLASS Award released its 10 finalists in men’s basketball for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award on Tuesday, a list that includes South Dakota State forward Jordan Dykstra.

To gain eligibility for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior, with notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

“I think it just tells you how well-rounded of a person Jordan is,” head coach Scott Nagy said. “To even be nominated for this award is a great thing, and to be one of the 10 finalists tells you that he has great involvement in the community, he’s a great student and he’s been a heck of a basketball player for us, there’s just so many things that go into it, so we’re happy for him and we wish him the best.”

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

National media chose the list of 30 candidates announced in October. Nationwide fan voting began immediately to help select the winner. Fans can vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through March 24. Fan votes, combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes, determine the winners, with the Senior CLASS Award winner announced during the 2014 NCAA Men’s Final Four®.
