Eddie Lacy with another honor

(WNFL) - The Packers will have somebody at the Pro Bowl after all.  Running back Eddie Lacy was named today to the pool of players to be picked by team captains Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice for the January 26th N-F-L all-star game in Honolulu.  Lacy was the only Packer to be named as a "first alternate" when the player pool was named a few weeks ago.  He'll replace Adrian Peterson of Minnesota, who suffered from foot-and-groin injuries late in the regular season.  Lacy's selection guarantees that the Packers won't be shut out of the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2005.  Yesterday, Lacy was named the Pro Football Writers' rookie-of-the-year, after he rushed for a Green Bay rookie record 11-hundred-78 yards with 11 touchdowns this past season.  Lacy is the first Packers' running back to make the Pro Bowl since Ahman Green in 2004 -- and he's the first rookie rusher to be a Pro Bowler since John Brockington in 1971.  In an effort to make the game more interesting, the N-F-L scrapped the traditional N-F-C versus A-F-C format -- and they recruited Rice and Sanders to choose players as captains.  The game's "draft" will take place next week.
