Luverne, MN (KELO AM) - Most areas of a popular southwest Minnesota will re-open Monday, July 14.
Blue Mound State Park was closed last month after heavy rain and the breach of the dam that formed the swimming area.
There will not be swimming at the park, and Mound Creek Trail will remain closed, but the climbing area, interpretive center, campground and all other trails will be open.
The bison herd remained intact, even though some fencing was washed out.
If you plan on camping, you will need to bring your own water for drinking, cooking and bathing, as e-coli was detected in the wells before the flooding. There are still flushable toilets at the park.
Repairs will be ongoing throughout the summer.
