Siou Falls, SD (KWSN) - Augustana's Jake Lee and Ben Skelly have been named preseason first team All-America by USA College Football.
Lee, a senior from Blue Earth, Minn., was an All-NSIC First Team selection last season before being named to the Don Hansen All-Super Region Three Third Team. Lee had an outstanding junior season, setting career-highs in multiple categories. He finished the season ranking fifth on the team with a career-high 44 tackles (16 solo, 28 assists), while racking up 11.0 tackles for loss from the nose guard position. He racked up a career-high four sacks and forced two fumbles and recovered one. Lee recorded at least one tackle in all 11 games, including a career-high 10 against Minnesota State on Oct. 12.
Skelly, a first team All-NSIC selection at linebacker last season, led Augustana and ranked fifth in the NSIC with 99 tackles in 2013. Skelly recorded a team and career-high 52 solo tackles, while picking up eight tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. A native of Lakeville, Minn., Skelly recorded at least three tackles in all 11 games last season and set his career-high with 15 tackles against Upper Iowa on Oct. 19.
Augustana opens fall camp on Aug. 16 in preparation for the season opener on Sept. 6 at Minnesota Crookston.
