VERMILLION, SD (KWSN) – Matches against seven NCAA Tournament teams from last season, including a home match against Iowa State, will highlight the 2014 South Dakota volleyball schedule released by head coach Leanne Williamson on Friday.
South Dakota will play in four tournaments this season, starting with a match against NCAA Tournament qualifier Arizona at the Green Bay Tournament on Aug. 29. The Coyotes start Summit League play on Sept. 26 when they host North Dakota State and will have a home non-conference matchup with Iowa State in The Den on Oct. 14.
USD will play three NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last season at the Creighton Tournament on Sept. 19-20. The Coyotes will start off against Colorado, a Sweet 16 team, on Sept. 19, followed by matches against Creighton and Illinois the next day.
The Coyotes will also play Arkansas, another NCAA tournament team, at the Arkansas Tournament on Sept. 12.
The league schedule has USD playing five of its last seven games at home, including a match against defending league champion and NCAA Tournament team IUPUI on Nov. 16. The Coyotes will play at in-state rival South Dakota State on Oct. 17, with a return matchup in The Den scheduled for Nov. 11.
The top six teams in the Summit League standings will play at the league tournament starting on Nov. 21.
