SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) - Southeastern and east-central South Dakota remain abnormally dry according to this morning’s Drought Monitor.
Bands of 2-4 inches of rain fell across parts of the Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas. Sioux Falls received .45 inch of rain since Saturday.
The rain replenished topsoil moisture across much of the Plains States but the subsoil was slow to respond.
The area of Minnesota in drought fell from 19 percent a week ago to less than 8 percent this week. A portion of southwest Minnesota, south of the Minnesota River, is in moderate drought.
