SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Once a notorious outmigration state, South Dakota has seen its population grow since 2009
Mary Medema with Sioux Falls Development Foundation says it’s important to find out what factors are bringing people here.
Medema says South Dakota has become a great place for retirees. She says business is attracted to the state because of a positive business climate.
She says unemployment among professions and occupations can range widely across the state. While construction workers are needed in many parts of South Dakota, the unemployment rate for those in building trades is extremely low in Sioux Falls.
The overall unemployment rate in South Dakota 3.8% while it's 3.3% in Sioux Falls.
Governor Daugaard is holding workforce summits to address the state’s labor supply and Medema says the final one is June 17th in Sioux Falls.
