Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Reported cases of pertussis in South Dakota and measles in Minnesota have prompted local public health officials to remind people of the importance of keeping vaccinations up-to-date. Both pertussis and measles are highly infectious, potentially serious diseases.
“It is important that you and your children who are able to get vaccinated are fully immunized,” says Public Health Director Jill Franken. “Vaccinations not only protect your family, but also help prevent the spread of disease to your friends and loved ones.”
Immunization is one of the most successful and cost-effective control methods available for preventing and reducing the spread of infectious diseases and promoting the development of communitywide immunity.
Vaccine is available at Falls Community Health. To schedule an appointment, please call 605‑367-8793. For more information on vaccinations, speak with your primary care provider or go to www.cdc.gov/vaccines.
