FARGO, N.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls Stampede dropped the second straight game 4-1 to the Fargo Force at SCHEELS Arena Saturday Night. Cole Sillinger scored the lone goal for the Herd, while Trent Burnham made the start and stopped 38 of 41 shots on net.
For the second straight night, the Fargo Force opened the scoring with the only goal from the first period off the stick of Nick Strom unassisted at 15:32 in the first period.
The Force doubled their lead just 28 seconds into the second period as Aaron Huglen beat goaltender Trent Burnham with the assists to Tristan Broz and Ryan Siedem. Cole Sillinger scored his fifteenth goal of the season on a 5-on-3 power play at 5:14 to cut the lead in half. Pinoniemi provided the backdoor pass to Sillinger who easily put it past goaltender Brennan Boynton.
Matthew Crasa extended the lead 9:49 into the third period, assisted by Siedem and Tyler Rollwagon. Austin Wong tallied an empty-net goal with 42 seconds remaining in regulation for the 4-1 victory.
The Herd finished the weekend one of 12 on the power play and will now head to Lincoln to take on the Stars March 10 in attempt to stay in the playoff hunt.
