RALSTON, Neb. (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls Stampede dropped their third-straight game to the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 7-3 at Ralston Arena Sunday afternoon.
Cole Sillinger, Will Dineen, and Jack Smith tallied goals for the Herd, while Trent Burnham and Noah Grannan shared duties between the pipes.
The Omaha Lancers, who were also on a losing streak coming into the game, tallied the opening goal off Ryan Conroy’s stick at 6:15 of the first period. Cam Mitchell followed it up 1:30 later with a goal for the 2-0 advantage. Cole Sillinger extended his point streak to twelve games with a strike at 10:15 to give life to the Stampede.
Omaha scored the next four goals of the contest, once more in the first period, twice in the second, and :32 seconds into the third for the 7-1 score. Zach Dubinsky, Kyle Bettens and Michael Posma, and Ayrton Martino all scored for the Lancers.
Will Dineen and Jack Smith tallied goals for the Stampede 13 seconds apart halfway through the third period to make the score 6-3, but Bettens again scored for the Lancers to take the final 7-3 score.
The game was marred by a total of 160 penalty minutes between both teams, which included over five-game misconducts and a game ejection.
The Herd dropped to 17-22-4 and 10 points back of a playoff spot in the Western Conference with 12 games remaining. The Stampede will return to Sioux Falls to begin a four-game homestand of their final six home games this season against the Sioux City Musketeers on Friday and Fargo Force on Saturday.
