SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls Stampede scored the first two goals in the first period but allowed the Sioux City Musketeers three-straight in a 3-2 loss at the PREMIER Center Friday night. Cole Sillinger and Jack Smith scored for the Herd, while Trent Burnham made the start in net.
The Stampede took the first goal of the game off the stick of Cole Sillinger on a back-handed rebound past goaltender Akira Schmid 1:35 into the first period. Jack Smith scored on a beautiful pass setup by Luke Toporowski at 8:31 to make it 2-0. The Musketeers struck back at 14:15 from Carter Loney to reduce the lead by one heading into the first intermission.
Brian Carrabes scored on the power play at 8:08 to tie the game in the second period and Kirklan Irey scored at 13:59 in the third period for the 3-2 score. The Herd outshot Sioux City 37 to 26 in the contest.
The Stampede will take on the Fargo Force tomorrow night for Stomp’s Birthday Bash presented by Dental Solutions.
