COLMAN, S.D. (KELO.com) – A Rapid City, S.D., woman has been identified as the person who died Saturday night in a vehicle-pedestrian crash near Colman.
Preliminary crash information indicates a 2011 GMC Yukon was southbound in the driving lane of Interstate 29 when it struck Hevin Mathis, 34, who was walking in the driving lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both male occupants of the car, the 29-year-old driver and the one-year-old passenger, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
