SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — At approximately 11:45 AM Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to report of garage on fire in the area of W. 3rd St. and N. Mallard Place.
First arriving units discovered a garage fully engulfed in flames and the fire had ignited the house on fire as well.
Fire Rescue crews were able to prevent the spread of the fire to the neighbor’s home and stop further fire spread within the house. All occupants of the house were able to escape without injury. Fire Rescue crews fully extinguished the fire in 30 minutes.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 5 fire trucks, 2 command vehicles, one investigation unit, and a total of twenty-two personnel. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to thank the following agencies for assistance during this emergency: Patient Care EMS ambulance, Sioux Falls Police Department, MidAmerican Energy, Xcel Energy, and Metro Communications 911 dispatch.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to check their smoke alarm function and practice their fire escape plans.
