ONTARIO, Calif. (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce dropped a 96-95 decision to the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario in the last two possessions on Wednesday night from Toyota Arena.
The Skyforce (2-2) went 2-1 on the three-game Western Conference road trip.
On the three-game road swing, Smith has posted a career-high in assists (15 on Jan. 8) and back-to-back games topping his career-high in points (19 on Monday and 31 on 10-17 FGA tonight). He also added six assists and two steals in tonight’s contest, as well.
Three other Force players were in double figures in the loss. Dru Smith (15 points on 6-11 FGA, five rebounds, four assists and three steals) has posted back-to-back outings with 15-plus points, five-plus rebounds, and four-plus assists. Tarkus Ferguson led off the bench with 14 points on 4-7 3PA, while Micah Potter added 13 points.
Agua Caliente (1-0) started the game on a 26-12 run to give them a 26-23 lead after the first quarter. Sioux Falls opened the second quarter on a 23-7 run, which put the game at 60-60 during intermission.
After a back and forth second half, Los Angeles Clippers assignee Keon Johnson (19 points and three assists) converted a dunk with 7.4 seconds left to seal the Clippers’ victory.
George King and Moses Wright each had 21 points to lead Agua Caliente, while Wright added 12 rebounds.
The Skyforce return to Sioux Falls and will face the Memphis Hustle in a two-game series, starting on Saturday from the Sanford Pentagon. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM CST. The Clippers travel in-state to face the Stockton Kings on Friday at 9:00 PM CST.
