SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN.com) – Here’s your morning sports update for Monday, February 14, 2022.
– Nebraska football fans are a step closer to being able to buy booze from vendors at Memorial Stadium. University of Nebraska regents have cleared the way for campus leaders to decide whether to sell alcohol at their sports venues. University president Ted Carter says he doesn’t know when or if alcohol sales will begin inside Memorial Stadium. He says it will not begin this fall.
– Anthony Edwards celebrated a milestone moment by scoring 37 points and leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 129-120 victory at Indiana. Edwards became the fourth-youngest player in NBA history to reach the 2,500-point mark on his first basket of the game. Minnesota never trailed after using a 13-0 second-quarter run to take a 56-44 lead. They improve to 30-27 on the year, good for seventh in the West. The Wolves host the Hornets tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
– Sophomore Keegan Murray scored a career-high 37 points to power Iowa men’s basketball to a 98-75 romp over Nebraska yesterday. Murray sank 15 of 21 shots and was 3-of-4 from three for the Hawkeyes, who improve to 17-7 and 7-6 in the Big Ten. Murray topped his career high on a driving layup with 5:28 remaining in the game, giving the Hawkeyes an 86-63 lead. Derrick Walker had 14 points and six rebounds to pace Nebraska, who are 1-13 in conference play.
– South Dakota’s men’s and women’s basketball teams both beat Denver over the weekend. The USD women are tied for first in the Summit League with a 13-1 record. The Coyote men are 8-6 in league play.
