SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, KELO.com News looked at which area states have the most patriotic names.
Hands down, Iowa had the most names of cities or counties in the tri-state region that had “liberty,” “union,” or “independence” in them.
In Iowa, there’s New Liberty, North Liberty, West Liberty; West Union and Union County; and Independence.
Nebraska was a distant second, with the towns of Liberty and Union.
Of course, South Dakota has Union County.
It was named for Union sentiment after the Civil War.
