SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The victim has been identified in Wednesday’s Sioux Falls shooting.
Brianna Marie Mattix-Hatch, 26, died at the scene.
Sioux Falls police responded to a family dispute Wednesday morning.
Sam Clemens says officers had partially entered the apartment when the suspect fired his weapon. They grabbed a child, who was near the door, and left.
During negotiations, another child was heard inside the apartment. Law enforcement also learned the suspect had called somebody saying he shot the woman, Mattix-Hatch.
When SWAT entered to check on the woman and child, the suspect turned the gun on himself. He was taken to the hospital. The other child was not harmed.
