SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls Stampede fell to the Lincoln Stars, 2-3, in Friday night’s Teddy Bear Toss game.
The Stampede had to work for their night after a first period goal from the Stars’ Brennan Ali left them down by one heading into the first intermission. Early into the second period, the Stampede’s Nick Ring answered back with a goal to send the teddy bears flying. Stuffed animals filled the air and ice just over four minutes into the second period. Marking assists on Ring’s goal were Maxim Strbak and Adam Zlnka. Ten minutes later, Clint Levens earned the Stampede their first lead of the night, scoring off of assists from Tanner Bruender and Merril Steenari.
The third period saw no movement on the Stampede side of the scoreboard, but two goals from the Stars. The first goal of the period, Lincoln’s second of the night, came during a Stampede power play and Jack Larrigan’s short-handed shot to the back of the net to tie the game at two goals apiece. Mason Marcellus sealed the game for the Stars on a goal with one minute and 30 seconds left.
The goaltending effort for the Stampede was placed in the hands of Xavier Medina, who stopped 35 of 38 shots on net for the Herd. Medina moves to 5-5-2 on the season while the Stampede sit at 8-13-1.
The Stampede will be back in action on December 10 from the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The team will take on the Sioux City Musketeers at 6:05 P.M. with streaming available on FloHockey and radio broadcasted on KELO.
