PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — She’s not happy with school districts, and she’s letting them know. In her budget address this week, Governor Kristi Noem challenged lawmakers and school districts. She says her administration is looking for ways to increase teacher pay.
The Governor says K-12 education funding has increased by 26 percent since she took office in 2019, while teacher pay has only grown by ten percent. That leaves South Dakota next to last in the nation in teacher pay.
