(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota is moving forward with plans to honor fallen veterans by naming bridges after them. The Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting another dedication ceremony in honor of U.S.M.C. Sergeant Dirk R. Abbas. He was killed in action in Korea in October 1952. The S.D. Highway-27 bridge over Crow Creek, south of Britton, will be dedicated to him. A ceremony is planned for Friday, October 3rd, at 2 p.m. at the Britton Area Event Center.
