Brookings, SD (KELO.com) — A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board found that engine problems were the cause of a small plane crash in Brookings that injured three people last month. The pilot reported a mechanical issue just after takeoff and was forced to land in a grass clearing. The pilot and his two passengers managed to escape before the plane burst into flames.
