Some extra cash to lift airport expansion projects off the ground. In a news conference at the Sioux Falls Airport this afternoon, Governor Larry Rhoden announced a plan to create Zero-interest loans for projects at the Sioux Falls and Rapid City airports. The plan will require legislative approval. It would move unused money in a Housing Infrastructure revolving loan program created by the legislature two years ago, making it available for the airport projects. The plan would make up to 15-million dollars available for both projects at zero interest for 20 years. The Governor’s plan would trigger an offer made by the city to provide a zero interest 5-million-dollar loan for the Sioux Falls project. Construction on that project began last month.
