SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – Sioux Valley Energy has seen a rise in contact with power lines. There were 4 last Thursday, 1 on Friday, 1 on Saturday, and another on Sunday. No one was injured, but the utility reminds folks to be careful and look up when working with large equipment or call 811 before you dig to locate underground utility lines.
Terry Ebright, safety coordinator for Sioux Valley Energy says even one contact can be too many “anytime you come in contact with an electrical line, whether it’s above ground or underground – there is a risk of injury or even death.”
Ebright reminds people if they come into contact with a power line to stay put and call 911 and Sioux Valley Energy. Keep untrained people away from your vehicle. If you have to exit, jump clear and then stay away from the vehicle.
