BROOKINGS, S.D. — After dispatching UC Davis 56-24 in the opening round last weekend at home, South Dakota State will head to California to face Sacramento State Saturday in the second round of the FCS Football Playoffs.
Coach John Stiegelmeier says the Jacks will need to be solid in all phases, including defense.
Sacramento State is the number four seed in the tournament and had a bye last weekend.
Missouri Valley Football Conference colleagues North Dakota State and Southern Illinois also are in the second round. NDSU had a bye and Southern Illinois defeated the University of South Dakota.
The kickoff from Hornet Stadium Saturday is 8 p.m. Saturday. Coverage on KELQ-FM 107.9 begins at 7 p.m.
