-Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson will serve a one-game suspension for a remark to White Sox star Tim Anderson about Jackie Robinson that Chicago manager Tony La Russa called racist
Major League Baseball special adviser John McHale upheld the penalty after hearing Donaldson’s appeal last week.
-Floyd Mayweather will take part in an exhibition fight against (MMA) fighter Mikuru Asakura in Japan later this year.
Promoters said the bout is scheduled for September.
The exact date, venue and rules for the fight will be announced later this month
-The Phoenix Mercury met with the U.S. State Department on Monday amid seven-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner’s ongoing detention in Russia.
Griner was detained at a Moscow airport on Feb. 17 when a search of her luggage allegedly revealed multiple cannabis oil vape cartridges.
She could face up to 10 years in prison
-Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and professional sprinter Devon Allen produced the all-time third-fastest 110-metres hurdles performance to beat world champion Grant Holloway in 12.84 seconds on Sunday at the NYC Grand Prix.
-Byron Buxton belted his 18th home run, Chris Archer delivered another steady pitching performance and the Minnesota Twins defeated the Seattle Mariners 3-2.
Buxton, fresh off an American League player of the week award, hit a two-run shot off Chris Flexen in the first inning.
It was his fourth home run in five games against Seattle this season.
-The Boston Celtics couldn’t make a 3-pointer to start the game and found themselves in a deep hole.
Then they couldn’t miss and turned the game around.
But when the outside shooting failed them with seven straight misses down the stretch, the Celtics had no answer against the Golden State Warriors and now head home on the brink of elimination following a Game 5 loss in the NBA Finals.
