GENEVA, IL (KELO.com) — Down to his team’s last out, Jabari Henry tied Saturday’s game with a ninth inning double and Shamoy Christopher’s two-out RBI double an inning later proved to be the difference as the Birds rallied past Kane County 4-3 in ten innings.
Sioux Falls opened the scoring in the first inning with a Gavin LaValley RBI single and Henry drew a bases-loaded walk in the second.
But Kane County would score the next three runs; an RBI single in the fourth inning and scored two runs following a throwing error in the seventh.
Robby Barham led off the ninth inning with a walk before a popout and a fly out put the Birds on the ropes. Kona Quiggle drew a two-out walk and Henry blasted a double off the outfield fence to score Barham. Stevie Ledesma worked a scoreless frame in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.
In the top of the tenth, Christopher belted a two-out double down the right field line to bring home Henry and Riley Ferrell retired all three batters he faced in the home half.
Seven different Sioux Falls batters finished the game with a hit while Joey Pulido struck out five in five innings of work. The Canaries are now 10-23 overall and will look to win the series Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm.
