BRIDGEWATER, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota farmers are closing in on the spring planting finish line. We’re following Bridgewater area farmer Jason Hofer through the growing season. He’s hoping to have the beans all planted tomorrow, and finish up some corn ground that got a little soggy a week ago.
South Dakota farmers are running ahead of the 5-year pace on spring planting. In the tri-state area, most are closing in on the planting finish line. Of course, the farming operation doesn’t stop there. So now, attention turns elsewhere. Much of Hofer’s farming operation suffered through drought last year, and areas where the ground is still dry may provide a challenge with weed control.
We will continue to follow Hofer through the ups and downs of the growing season throughout this year.
