Mt. Rushmore, SD (KELO.com) — If you’re planning a quick trip to see Mount Rushmore you may be disappointed. Some parts of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial are temporarily closed because of planned fire operations. The Blackberry Trail and climbing areas west and south of Highway 244 are closed until Midnight Friday. There may also be short-term problems with heavy smoke in the area.
