SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls extended its city-wide mask ordinance Tuesday night.
The Sioux Falls City Council sat through another wave of residents sharing their discontent for the proposal at its meeting.
A few council members empathized with frustrated residents but remained unwavering in their decision to champion the extension, which does not have an enforcement arm.
Two councilors said projections made by local health officials of a potential surge in the coming months and the possibility of medical personnel being overwhelmed led to their ‘yes’ votes, even as cases have reportedly been on a slight decline.
The council voted 6-2 in favor of readopting and extending the ordinance through March 13, 2021.
