PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – Farmers in South Dakota are sharing experiences with hopes of passing a new farm bill in Congress.
The Senate AG Committee is voting on a new farm bill, saying this legislation is three years overdue.
Typically, Congress passes a farm bill every five years, but the last one passed in 2018.
Farmers say Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill covers many provisions for farmers but lacks on new policy that could financially promote the farming and ranching industries.
There is more optimism that a bill can pass in the Senate, as Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell has returned from a medical leave of absence.
