CANTON, S.D. (KELO.com)- Fireworks have erupted between Lincoln County Commissioners over the county’s new Justice Center.
Commissioner Doug Putnam called the $54-million facility a ‘boondoggle’ during yesterday’s commission meeting.
Commission Chair Tiffani Landeen fired back. “Commissioner Putnam has been on this commission for over a year and a half. He has not toured that courthouse; he has not sat down and asked any questions about that courthouse. Instead, he just complains about it.”
Landeen told Putnam he was out of order when he asked to speak on the issue again, but he made a statement anyway, “This deal went way over your head. You overspent, overbuilt, and that was it.” Putnam apologized to Lincoln County Taxpayers, saying they “got hosed.”
